An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented specialist to join the Senior Leadership Team in our outstanding College. Huddersfield New College has an excellent reputation locally and nationally as an open access sixth form college, where students make outstanding progress on both A Level and vocational programmes. 

In this senior position, you will be responsible for leading Student Support and Guidance, and for ensuring that students receive the best support and guidance possible, to enable them to make outstanding progress and move on to positive destinations. 

Excellent knowledge of national developments in education and of effective student support and guidance practices are therefore essential to this role. 

Working in a senior leadership team comprising the Principal, two Vice Principals and a team of Assistant Principals, you will be able to shape directly the whole College vision and decision-making. 

The successful applicant will: 

  • Have significant leadership experience and a proven track record in supporting students to achieve their very best. 
  •  Have excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda. 
  • Have outstanding strategic ability to anticipate and to lead change.  
  • Possess the excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence necessary
    to lead and motivate a committed and highly skilled team of specialist support and guidance staff. 
  • Be committed to the inclusive ethos of the College and to the development of an environment in which diversity is celebrated and fairness and respect for others is paramount. 
  • Possess the ambition to be a future Principal.
