Job overview

Do you want to work with a team where leaders are highly ambitious for the academy and its pupils? Where, led by the dynamic principal, they have created a lively and positive climate for learning? As reported in our “Good” Ofsted 2017 inspection.

About the role: An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic educator to shape the ongoing success of our exciting and vibrant school, and would provide an effective platform to Headship within one of the largest educational Trusts in the UK.

About You

We are looking for a talented and exceptional senior leader with a proven track record of school improvement to join our strong and supportive academy as Vice Principal. The successful candidate will be predominantly responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning and will also make a significant contribution to setting high expectations and providing drive and ambition to achieve excellence as a member of our Leadership Team. You will be managing the day-to-day running of the academy and working with all staff, parents, carers and volunteers to ensure our academy is an exciting place to learn and our students work hard and behave well.

About Hurlingham Academy: The Hurlingham Academy is a mixed secondary academy based in Fulham, West London located just 10 minutes from Parsons Green tube station; adjunct to South Park and within a stone’s throw of the River Thames. It is a growing academy that is improving year upon year under the new, young leadership team that was created in 2015.

You will work with a diverse community who have high expectations and aspirations for their children, who expect the best and who want to succeed. You will therefore have the characteristics that will drive this appetite for success within our students and you will lead by example.

The Academy has cultivated a friendly and welcoming environment for all its staff, which is why we have one of the lowest absence rates in the whole of the group. The teachers feel empowered, the support staff feel recognised and we all want to be here! Here is the opportunity for you to join one of the ever-increasing success stories of United Learning and to be part of the incredible journey that The Hurlingham Academy has set upon.

United Learning

The Hurlingham Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
