Job overview

Nova Hreod Academy is looking for a Vice Principal to join our Senior Leadership Team this September. If you are an experienced Assistant Principal looking to join a thriving academy, then we can offer a supportive school within a highly successful MAT. We want to hear from leaders who wish to continue the success of our academy, share our vision for providing an outstanding environment for teaching and learning and, like us, value drive, integrity, scholarship and contribution.

Your opportunity

This is an exciting leadership position which would suit a highly motivated Assistant Principal seeking a Vice Principal post within a supportive, friendly and experienced academy team. You will have a wealth of opportunities to develop as a leader within our MAT, United Learning.

What we are looking for

You should share the values, vision and ethos of Nova Hreod: to ensure that every pupil is able to flourish academically and personally in an aspirational and supportive environment. You will help lead, manage and develop the quality of teaching across our academy.

Please contact Trish Grimes at Swindon Academy to arrange an informal conversation with the Executive Principal to discuss the role in more detail. The telephone number and the email address are available on the school website.

United Learning

Nova Hreod Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits and ultimately the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning) and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.

For more information or to visit the school please contact Daria Minczak d.minczak@novahreodacademy.org.uk or call 01793 549106. We would be delighted to arrange a meeting with our Executive Principal at a convenient time for you to include after school and weekends.

About Nova Hreod Academy

Nova Hreod Academy is well placed in an excellent Location, 1 hour from London, 30 minutes from Bath and 20 minutes to the beautiful Cotswolds. We are lucky enough to have a modern building that was designed with learning and development in mind.

At Nova, we want all our students to flourish academically and personally in an aspirational and supportive environment. Our school ethos is deeply rooted in our ‘DISC’ principles of Drive, Integrity, Scholarship and Contribution. As our students develop these values during their time with us, they move towards adulthood, better prepared to take on the challenges they will face.

Rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted in November 2022, inspectors described Nova as a "friendly and welcoming school." They praised our calm and purposeful learning environment, SuperNova enrichment programme and the fact that "children are able to enjoy a rich and ambitious curriculum."

Ofsted highlighted our “well structured” curriculum and that “pupils in all year groups make good progress across all subjects.” They also recognised the improvements in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, adding that there is “a culture where staff reflect and improve on their practice.”

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.  As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing.

We are looking to appoint committed, enthusiastic and talented teachers who relish the opportunity to be involved in a fast-paced and innovative environment, making a significant difference to the lives of young people. We are a strong and hardworking team who take the education and safeguarding of our young people very seriously.
