Al Dhafra Private Schools, Abu Dhabi is seeking to appoint an outstanding Vice Principal to join our dynamic and experienced senior leadership team. The post is for a January 2020 start, although this date can be brought forward or postponed for an outstanding candidate.

Al Dhafra Private Schools are owned by Dhafir Group, who are a well-organized establishment based in the United Arab Emirates. The group currently own 3 co-educational, KG – 12 schools, situated in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Al Dhafra Private School, Abu Dhabi is very well established and highly respected, both in the city of Abu Dhabi and beyond. Over half of the students are Emirati, with the remainder being mainly the children of expats from across the region. Almost all of the students are Muslim. The school enjoys the benefits of experienced leadership, excellent facilities and dedicated teachers. Since its inception, Al Dhafra Private School’s focus has always been securing the highest standards of educational excellence.

In September 2018 the school was inspected and judged to be ‘good’ or better in all aspects, with many areas judged as ‘very good’. Al Dhafra Private School, Abu Dhabi is a K-12 school which has over 1400 students and delivers the American curriculum. Our students’ performance in examinations is excellent and has continued to improve during recent years. Our most recent inspection report states that, ‘Students demonstrate positive attitudes to learning through their very good behaviour and strong relationships with staff and each other’. This positivity is strongly supported by our owner and Board of Trustees who are committed to supporting the school to become ‘outstanding’ in the next few years.

About the Post

The Vice Principal will assist the Principal and the Senior Leadership Team of the school, in all aspects of school leadership and improvement, including taking full responsibility for the school in the absence of the Principal. They will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team, taking the lead on academic standards, curriculum development and assessment. The post-holder will be required to exercise their professional skills and judgement to carry out their professional duties in a collaborative manner, as set out in the Job Description and Person Specification.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate recent and relevant experience and expertise related to the following areas:

  • Student achievement, including attainment, progress, tracking and monitoring
  • Assessment and Reporting
  • Teacher appraisal and performance development
  • Monitoring stakeholder satisfaction and outcomes
  • School marketing and customer satisfaction
  • Pastoral care, personal and social development and wellbeing
