The Role:

We are recruiting for a permanent Virtual Class Teacher, required to teach two children, ages 11 and 9. You will need to create and deliver engaging lessons which challenge both children and overall promote enthusiasm for learning and for subjects.

The successful candidate will need to teach cross curriculum and cross key stages and as such, possess a good knowledge of the primary and secondary curriculum, including GCSE preparation and regular assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly video-call meetings with the absent teacher to plan and co-ordinate work
  • Be prepared to deliver and assess lessons to both students in accordance with lesson plans.
  • Ensure that the children have received, in advance, their learning objectives and tasks that are to be completed in that week.
  • Encourage both students to help boost their self-esteem and highlight their skills.
  • Carry out regular assessments on both students, to ensure a record can be stored of the progress that is being made, while also identifying problem areas and areas, which need attention or improvement.
  • Where necessary, be willing to work after school, in order to ensure that everything is in order for the next day and to complete any tasks that require attention.
  • Keep a log of weekly objectives and update accordingly
  • Provide a safe, positive, learning environment for the students.
  • Communicate with parents/absent teacher on a regular basis, including presenting student progress reports and informing parents of any concerns that may arise.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour, which are expected of students.
  • Regularly review the effectiveness of your teaching and assessment procedures and its impact on pupils’ progress, attainment and well-being, refining your approaches where necessary responding to support, advice and feedback from absent teacher.
