Job overview

As Headteacher of the Virtual School working for Merton Council you will have the opportunity to lead, support and challenge internal and external schools and partners to secure the best possible educational outcomes for children and young people in the care of Merton Council.

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated strong and effective leadership in a school and or a local authority senior role and has a passion for promoting the educational achievement of children in care and care leavers and celebrating their successes. The successful post holder will have senior level experience of supporting vulnerable children in educational settings and those out of education and will be able to demonstrate the impact of their leadership on improved educational outcomes for children.

The post holder will have excellent understanding of the social care and educational legislation pertinent to children in care and will use their initiative and imagination to unblock significant barriers to the educational success of these children and young people.

Joining the Virtual School team you will work closely with the Senior Leadership Teams for Education and Social Care. We have excellent relationships with various partnerships of schools as well as networking groups in the region.
