Job overview

VISITING CELLO TEACHER

Self-Employed

Required from September 2023

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate self-employed Cello Teacher to join our team of Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs) and play an integral part in the vibrant and dynamic strings programme that continues to go from strength to strength at JAGS Junior School.

The postholder will be based at the Junior School and will teach the cello to students from Year 2 to Year 6 in both the Pre-Prep and the Prep Schools. In the Pre-Prep, the successful candidate will form part of a team of three VMTs who run an outstanding and thriving Year 2 strings programme. They will be required to teach their cello pupils in a group setting along with other violin, viola and double bass pupils. In the Prep, the candidate will also run a String Orchestra with the help of two other VMTs. There is currently a full day of cello teaching and it will be essential to extend this to a second day from September 2023. Applicants should have time in their weekly schedule to accommodate this growth.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about music and teaching, and will have previous experience of teaching students of this age in both group and one-to-one settings.
