1000+ pupils (3 to 18) with 200 in Sixth Form

Visiting Drama Teacher (Trinity)

September 2017

Royal Russell is an HMC/IAPS co-educational school with 1000+ pupils between the ages of 3 and 18. There are 135 boarders in the Senior School. We are situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills, and boast day and boarding facilities amongst the best in the South of England. ISI has recently judged the school as ‘excellent’ in all areas.

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated and effective Visiting Drama Teacher to teach the Trinity Guildhall Acting and Speaking Graded exams to students. We provide these as an additional course after school to complement work in Key Stages 3-5. You should have knowledge of the Trinity curriculum, and be experienced in enabling students to devise drama, acting in groups to create a play from scratch.

You should be able to enthuse and inspire students across the Senior school with a love of performance and be able to teach the Acting and Speaking exams at all grades. Currently our pupils enjoy great success working in groups on the devising exams in the main and we would wish this to continue. There is however an opportunity to develop pupils for solo exams as well.

Located just 8 mins from East Croydon station, pupils enjoy the 110-acre campus, which contains incredible facilities to inspire learning and personal growth; from cutting-edge science labs, extensive sporting facilities, Chapel, Great Hall, spacious dining areas, Performing Arts Centre and beautiful Houses surrounded by green open space.

The School offers bespoke educational pathways to support children and is guided by expert tutors, teachers, coaches and pastoral teams.

There are more than 300 pupils in the Junior School, and over 800 pupils in the Senior School including approximately 250 pupils in the Sixth Form. The School also has around 180 boarders staying in the boarding houses on campus.  Pupils benefit from learning in a co-educational setting and as part of an open community that reflects the real world, celebrating both individual and collective achievements.

Royal Russell was founded in 1853 as a charity to look after orphans of families from the textile trades and is proud to have enjoyed Royal Patronage from its foundation, and for having Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as the School’s Patron during her reign.
