Job overview
Visiting Music Instructor – Keyboard - Required In Unique Central London Location
(2 - 3 days, job share possible)
For September 2018
This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic person to join one of the UK’s most vibrant and successful prep school music departments. The school is co-educational from Reception to Year 8, of 250 pupils. Among them are the boy choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral. Music permeates the whole life of the school and is central to our ethos.
We are seeking an outstanding and well-organised teacher of piano (the ability to offer accompanying for exams and concerts also would be useful but is not essential).
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about teaching and learning, keen to continue to develop their own pedagogy and have the drive to develop their pupils, from complete beginners to grade 8 distinction standard.
Evidence of ability to teach very young pupils (age 4+) would be advantageous as would the ability to teach theory and aural across the age range.
The School is set in the grounds of the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral and is a successful, happy and supportive place to work. The music department is well staffed and resourced.
Further information about the school can be found at: http://www.spcslondon.com

About St Paul's Cathedral School
St Paul’s Cathedral School is a co-educational, Church of England, independent preparatory day school for around 250 children aged 4-13, located in the City of London. It has boarding provision for St Paul’s Cathedral boy choristers, who sing daily at the cathedral, from the age of seven. From September 2023, girl choristers have begun to sing in the cathedral.
The school is owned by the Dean and Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral; its governing body is made up of five Canons and seven lay members, who are chaired by the Dean. St Paul's can trace its origins back to the 12th century and it existed for several centuries solely to educate the cathedral choristers. It has been co-educational since 2002.
