Job overview
Merchant Taylors’ School, a leading Independent School for boys aged 11-18, is looking to engage a dynamic oboe teacher to teach individual pupils of all abilities. The role also offers opportunities to engage more widely in the musical life of the School and willingly support the activities of the Music Department, by playing an active role in concerts and events throughout the year relevant to their specialism. In addition, there may be scope for the successful candidate to coach an ensemble as part of the existing thriving programme of chamber music.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced teachers to join our existing pool of 24 Visiting Music Teachers at Merchant Taylors’ School, who between them deliver nearly 300 lessons each week. Visiting Music Teachers are self-employed, invoicing the parents of pupils directly.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic musician within their field, with proven ability as a teacher and performer. We are looking for a professional with a genuine desire to raise the profile of their specialism at the School, to increase the number of pupils learning, and to raise the level of performance on the oboe.
