Role overview

Denstone College Music Department provides exciting and varied musical provision for both Denstone College , and The Prep at Denstone College.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Singing to join our team of visiting staff, with an initial focus on teaching within The Prep.

Music at Denstone is undergoing a new phase in development with the recent move of the College & Prep School onto the main College site. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to be involved in shaping the singing life of both schools, and a willingness to participate, and potentially run, choirs and other singing activities is essential. There are a wide range of concerts and events, and a very active range of co-curricular activities that are very well supported.

This post will primarily involve teaching pupils from our Prep School to begin with, but we are an integrated department that caters for all music making on the College site, and so there is scope to expand in to teaching within the Senior School overtime. The ideal applicant will therefore have experience of teaching pupils throughout the 3-18 age range. The ability to offer tuition in a variety of styles is essential, and we would particularly welcome teachers who are able to offer popular and musical theatre styles of singing in addition to more traditional styles.

We currently have 12 pupils seeking tuition, equating to around one day, or two half days of teaching, although hours are dependent on student demand. 30 lessons per pupil are delivered over the course of the academic year. Work can be completed, either one day or two half days per week (dependent on student numbers)
