Visual Arts is part of the Creative Arts curriculum area alongside Performing Arts. Visual Arts is staffed by a team of three teachers supported by a full and part time technician. All teaching takes place in a large, purpose built block that has a range of specialist areas such as fine art studios, print rooms, a 3D/ceramic studio, computer suites and a photography studio.
The curriculum area offers a wide range of courses including A-Level Art & Design (with pathways in Photography, Fine Art and Graphics) A-Level Music, A-Level Drama and a BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design. Creative Arts has an extremely diverse enrichment programme, including Musical Activities & Theatre in education and organises a large variety of trips & visits, specialist workshops, visiting lectures and a number of exhibitions and performances.
Staff work closely together to develop teaching and learning strategies to support some impressive student achievements. Students are supported outside lesson time to enrich their learning through Independent Studio Practice and workshops.
We are looking for a committed and passionate teacher to deliver on a range of courses within our curriculum area. A successful candidate needs to be an experienced, suitably qualified teacher with expertise in Fine Art and/or Graphics. High expectations of students and dedication to the ongoing development of the curriculum area is essential.
The post is to deliver the following programmes:
• A-Level Art & Design (with pathways in Photography, Fine Art and Graphics) - AQA
• BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design - EDEXCEL
Candidates that are invited for interview are asked to bring a portfolio of work that evidences the experience and skills outlined in the job specification. The portfolio should be based on relevant Visual Arts teaching practice but examples of personal and professional Visual Arts practice are also welcomed.
