Job overview

The Bridge School is a KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit for students who have been excluded from mainstream high schools or who are at risk of exclusion. Our learning offer includes a broad and balanced curriculum with a focus on the core academic subjects English, Maths and PSHE.

The Vocational Learning Centre further broadens our offer and provides a distinctive curriculum designed to engage KS4 learners who require a more practical learning pathway, or who may benefit from alternative learning arrangements. Many of our students experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and often present with some additional needs and barriers to learning.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly competent Assistant Tutor who will contribute to the provision of high quality teaching and learning to our learners in the Vocational Centre. You will actively assist in the preparation of practical and classroom based learning resources. Assisting the lead tutor appropriately in order to support the learning, engagement and safety of our learners; to ensure the highest possible standards of learner achievement are met and expected outcomes are delivered. Crucial to this role is the responsibility for the maintenance, storage and control of all resources within your specific area. A background or knowledge of supporting the delivery of MVE courses would be desirable.

Fundamentally, you will be supporting the delivery of the curriculum to small groups of learners, but due to challenging needs and behaviours you will be required to contribute to the management of learner behaviour, displaying a high level of professionalism conducive to a school environment.

At all times you will be committed to ensuring high expectations for behaviour and learning, and demonstrate a professional responsibility to promote the safeguarding and welfare of our learners.

Informal discussions with Jonathan Brown (Centre Manager) and visits to the school are encouraged. Please call 01928 333215. Applications can be completed via the Halton Website and Jobs Go Public.

Please note, if successful you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for regulated activity (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). Further information about DBS can be found at www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of its learners and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Our school is an equal opportunities organisation which welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

Closing Date: 12noon on 24th May 2024
