Job Title:     Vocational Lead

Location:       Oak Tree School, Truro, Cornwall.

Hours:           42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4.30pm

Salary:       Up to £30,000 per annum **(This salary is NOT subject to pro-rata and is the full amount before tax)**

Contract:        Permanent, Term Time only

About the role

To develop and lead an inspirational Vocational curriculum to be delivered across all sites within the school.

To manage standardisation and quality assurance processes specific to exam boards, ensuring school processes meet course provider requirements.

To keep an up-to-date training log of all relevant training completed by school staff, ensuring compliance to all exam board requirements.

To complete a termly audit of homework across the school, to assess the frequency and quality of homework.

To work alongside the intervention coordinator to ensure appropriate interventions are offered for all students, including those who are gifted and talented.

Essential

  • Holds or is working towards a teaching qualification – QTS (highly desirable).
  • Knowledge of recent developments in learning and teaching.
  • A reflective practitioner who consistently seeks to improve their teaching to support learning and accelerate student progress.
  • A good understanding of effective ways to facilitate learning.
  • A strong understanding of the relevant subject curriculum.
  • Good working knowledge of all Key Stage subject related qualifications.
  • Experience in delivering vocational courses.

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
