Waking Night Worker

Our school Royal School for the Deaf Derby is a unique provider of day and residential placements for deaf children and young people aged 3 – 19 from a national catchment area. We are a speaking and signing community with a qualified, competent and confident staff team working together to ensure all children and young people leave with the know-what and know-how to make the most of life beyond school.

We are looking to recruit a Waking Night team member, to work with the residential staff team to create an environment where children and young people are healthy, happy, safe and achieve the best possible outcomes on their journey to adulthood. To work with the Residence Lead and the wider staff team to meet and exceed national Minimum Standards for children and young people in residential special schools.

The provision is consistently rated as good and outstanding and all the children and young people in residence are fun to be with, respectful and hardworking.

All staff benefit from an individualised continuing professional development plan including accredited British Sign Language tuition for those who do not currently sign, There is no shift or weekend or holiday working.

Our residence staff team are driving the success of our provision. The Residence Lead, Heads of House, Evening Co-workers and Waking Night Workers are qualified, competent, confident and fully committed to providing the very best quality of care in an environment which is safe and happy. Working hours are 10.15pm-8.45am Mon-Fri, term time only.
