We are looking to appoint a Welfare Supervisor - maternity cover for six months in the first instance. William Perkin Church of England High School opened as a Free School in September 2013 with its first intake of Year 7 students, and now has seven year groups (7 - 13) totalling almost 1,400 students. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.
An opportunity has arisen for a part time Welfare room supervisor to join the busy admin team on a six-month maternity leave fixed-term contract; this may be extended to one year depending on staff circumstances. The current Welfare Officer will be returning from maternity leave 3 days a week, Weds -Fri. This role involves acting as the Primary First aider 2 days a week (Monday-Tuesday). The role is based at William Perkin CE High School. Core hours are 14 per week to be discussed at interview.
This role will be focused primarily on supervision of the schools busy welfare room, assisting students who attend the Welfare Room, maintaining a log of support given to students in each case by logging the details on SIMS and administering Emergency First Aid as required. The Welfare room is located next to the main office. The main office consists of 10 administrators, most of which hold a three day First Aid at work certificate and work on a rota to cover the welfare room during lunch breaks and absences.
This position would suit someone looking to gain experience of working in a busy school environment, who may aspire to progress within school administration. Ideally, the candidate would have existing first aid experience and previous experience of working within a school setting, however this is not essential and training will be offered to the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be approachable, calm and professional. Highly organised with a great attention to detail and able to work well with students aged 11-18. If you take pride in your work and have a “can do” attitude, we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will have:
- A First Aid qualification (Desirable).
- A nursing or welfare qualification (or relevant experience) (Desirable).
- Educated to A Level, and GCSE passes in English and Maths (essential).
- Degree or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience/knowledge of administration in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent ICT skills.
- Customer service experience.
- A professional attitude and excellent attendance.
