Whole School Counsellor

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, qualified and experienced teachers. A minimum of two years teaching in a Secondary school setting is required. A real passion in working with motivated and high achieving children is essential.

About the ASC Team

The Advice Support and Counselling (ASC) Team are a key component of our Welfare and Guidance (WAG) team and are responsible for the promotion of wellbeing across our school community. The Whole School Counsellor is a key member of the team promoting and helping embed the principles of Positive Education equipping students with the skills and knowledge to be responsible for their own wellbeing and that of others. Whilst the counsellor primarily has a therapeutic role, there is an educational facet which includes providing students, teachers and parents with information that will enable them to develop preventative knowledge and responsive strategies to help students fully access their educational programs and wider school life. Additionally, the counsellor will work closely with Pastoral Leaders to help share relevant information to the teaching team to ensure awareness of key issues and educational needs relating to welfare and wellbeing.

BIS HCMC offers a bespoke blend of British and International curricula, whilst balancing academic success and holistic development, therefore, unlocking a whole world of possibilities for our students. Our primary students follow the English National Curriculum blended with the thematic and interactive International Primary Curriculum and achieve outstanding outcomes. In Secondary our students continue with the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 in preparation for their IGCSEs and later, the rigorous IBDP. Our 2023 cohort of 107 IBDP graduates achieved an average score of 36.7 points, significantly higher than the global average of 30.2 points with 37.4 % of our students achieving 40 points or more and 3 students achieving a perfect score of 45. At IGCSE our students are equally successful. Our 2023 cohort of 130 students achieved 70.2% of grades at A*/A with 98.5% of our students achieving A* - C in 5 or more subjects and 25 students achieving A*/A grades across all their subjects.  

Beyond academics, we have an exceptional enrichment programme with over 100 Co-Curricular activities and expeditions both in Vietnam and globally that help our students overcome challenges, build confidence, create unforgettable memories and create change to the communities around them.
