Job overview

The Prague British School is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic and motivated teacher to lead our Learning Support Department. The school was recently assessed as ‘excellent’ in all areas of its ISI inspection and wants to continue to develop its’ provision for SEN pupils.

The position will be based in the Primary School and the person will provide teaching support to individuals and small groups; identify and support students with additional learning needs (including the most able) as well as offer advice and guidance to teachers and parents across both primary and Senior School sites about effective learning strategies for these students. Suitable candidates will be forward-thinking, resourceful experts in SEN theory and provision. A formal SENCO qualification and/or evidence of further study or interest in this field would be a significant advantage.

Key responsibilities of this significant post include: Coordinating the SEN team across both primary and Senior School Sites; assuring the impact and quality of SEN intervention on learning; creating Individual Education Plans [IEPS]; leading parent meetings; liaising with senior school staff and external agencies; administering initial diagnostic assessments; observing learning and leading the teaching staff in their understanding of pupil’s individual learning and behavioral needs.

We are looking for a SENCO who:

  • has the ability to develop and lead the strategic development of SEN policy and provision in-line with current legislation;
  • has the ability to lead, motivate and inspire the Learning Support department, including teachers, support staff and external agencies;
  • can continue to develop an exciting and challenging curriculum targeted at students who have difficulty accessing mainstream school;
  • should also be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead by example;
  • can analyse and interpret data and use this to establish tailored intervention strategies.

About Prague British International School, Kamýk

Prague British International School is a new school formed by the merger of the English International School Prague and the Prague British School. EISP and PBS have a long history in the city, founded in 1992 and 1995 respectively, both schools provide education for Prague's local and international community, educating children aged 2-18 years using the English National Curriculum, IB Diploma Programme and IB Careers Programme.

Located on three campuses, Vlastina (Prague 6) for EYFS to Year 9, Kamyk (Prague 4) for EYFS to Year 9 and Libus (Prague 4) for Year 10 to Year 13.
