BCIS Phuket is the first school in Thailand to have its education programmes accredited by the French Ministry of Education, Cambridge Assessment International Education and the Thai Ministry of Education all within the same institution. Offering students from as young as 18 months right up to 18 years innovative, world-class education on our purpose-built, state-of-the-art campuses at Chalong, on the south of the island.

The school has a focus on high academic standards, computational thinking, social and emotional education as well as inclusivity to allow all students to succeed through a range of academic and vocational pathways.

Alongside well-equipped classrooms, the school has excellent sports provision, large open plan learning areas to support innovation and creative problem-solving including robotics and 3D printing, a drama/dance studio, specialist music rooms, full WIFI coverage, dedicated science labs, art rooms and libraries. An Olympic size swimming pool along with smaller pools, all weather football pitches, athletic track, cycle lanes and a variety of outdoor play equipment. In addition, the school has specialist academies for tennis, football and swimming.

We wish the appointed SENDCO to join the team from August 2020. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the schools Vision and Mission as well as all policies, academic standards and pastoral support in the Primary school.

The post holder will report to the Heads of school, assistant director of academic studies and the Principal and will assist in shaping & implementing the SENDCO/educational strategy for the school.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• To support the school in embracing and encouraging the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the Core Values of the school.

• To support the school in ensuring high academic standards in relation to the school’s own desire for all students to be the best they can as well as a commitment and understanding to uphold the customs and traditions of the Thai community. 

• To support the management team in managing support timetables and undertake teaching and other professional duties as reasonably delegated by the Headteachers and/or Principal.

• To fully engage in the Appraisal and performance management process.

• Work closely with the school pastoral counsellor

To be considered for this role, candidates must be:

• An effective and dynamic leader with a proven track record in sustained school improvement that can be clearly demonstrated by example.

• Rigorous in promoting excellence and developing commitment to high standards of care and opportunities for all.

• Able to demonstrate successful experience of leading and managing staff and promoting and developing innovative approaches to learning

• Experienced in developing teacher’s skills and competencies through a sustained school improvement model such as coaching, mentoring and training.

• Able to demonstrate a comprehensive and confident knowledge of best practice pedagogy.

• Able to demonstrate a commitment to inclusion with operational strategies

• Able to demonstrate genuine passion towards the wider extra-curricular life of a school.

Requirements

PGCE or B.Ed. or full teaching qualification.

English speaker from UK, US, Australia, Canada or New Zealand. Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with management responsibilities

Knowledge and experience of the UK Cambridge Curriculum

International experience an advantage
