We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Whole School Subject Leader of Physical Education to join our team. The successful candidate will lead the PE department in delivering high-quality physical education programs from Pre-KG to G12, ensuring that every student receives a well-rounded and enriching experience.

The Hamilton International School (THIS) is one of Doha’s premier schools and opened in 2019, with the Secondary School opening in 2020. About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our PE department, elevating our PE and Sport provision to new heights, and positioning it as a unique selling point of our school. The team consists of PE teachers, swim teachers and a lifeguard. We are looking to appoint an exceptional Subject Leader of PE to join our amazing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

· Develop and implement a strategic plan for PE and Sport that aligns with the school's vision, mission and values.

· Lead and inspire the PE department to achieve excellence in teaching, learning, and extracurricular sports activities.

· Collaborate with middle and senior leadership to achieve outstanding outcomes.

Curriculum Development:

· Further develop and enhance a comprehensive and inclusive PE curriculum that meets the needs of all students, including those with diverse abilities and interests.

· Incorporate innovative teaching methodologies and resources to engage students and promote lifelong participation in physical activity.

Quality Assurance:

· Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of the PE program to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

· Implement effective systems for tracking student progress and attainment in PE, providing timely feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.

Professional Development:

· Provide leadership and support to PE department staff through mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

· Stay abreast of current trends, best practices, and advancements in PE and sports education, sharing knowledge with colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement.

Community Engagement:

· Forge strong partnerships with local sports clubs, organizations, and community stakeholders to enhance extracurricular sports offerings and opportunities for students.

· Promote the benefits of physical activity and healthy living within the school community and beyond, organizing events and initiatives to encourage participation.

The School is currently open to students in from Pre-KG to Grade 11 and will open Grade 12 in August 2024. We offer a high quality, bespoke, International Curriculum (underpinned by US standards) from Pre-KG to Grade 8. In Grades 9 and 10, our students begin the High School Diploma and we aim to offer two pathways in Grades 11 and 12: the High School Diploma and the IB Diploma.

Criminal Background Checks

All successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory Criminal Background Checks covering the 10 years prior to their start date with the school; this will cover all countries of residence during that period.

The Hamilton International School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and criminal record checks. A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience is required, preferably with experience of the US Common Core, the International Baccalaureate or the UK National Curriculum. Experience teaching across both Primary and Secondary PE is preferred. This role is not suitable for NQT’s.
