Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist college for young people aged 16 to 25 who have an ASD diagnosis. The College supports both day and residential learners and has a number of residential homes linked to the provision. We provide a varied range of learning opportunities including both academic and vocational pathways. Learning is delivered on site at Farleigh FE College and off site, where we work with a range of external partners including local FE partnership colleges.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Work Based Learning Lead to join our Education Team.

Key Duties will include:

  • Develop work based learning and volunteering opportunities to provide real working experience for learners, that meet learners needs and are aspirational.
  • Develop and deliver a work based learning skills and knowledge programme providing accredited outcomes where suitable.
  • Liaise with Employers and Alternative Providers to ensure all required quality assurance and safety checks are in place.
  • Liaise with Careers Advisors in developing clear pathways for students.
  • Organise/ arrange attendance at associated events such as Career Days and Employer Fairs.
  • Make arrangements associated with work based learning and volunteering placements such as arranging suitable clothing/ PPE , transportation and support.

Requirements:

  • Recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience of working within a SEN environment is desirable and in particular an understanding of ASD.

However, we would also welcome applicants who are keen to develop skills within a specialist provision and will provide support and training.

Our educational team are based at North Parade in Frome. This recently refurbished listed building provides a central hub for our College community. Based in the heart of Frome town centre it provides an excellent location for accessing all that this diverse town and surrounding area has to offer.

About Farleigh Further Education College

Farleigh Further Education College in Frome was established in 2000 as an independent specialist residential college for up to 90 students aged 16 to 25 with Asperger Syndrome and associated conditions. A range of diagnoses may have been applied to our students, including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), pervasive development disorder or autistic or Asperger Syndrome traits. The town of Frome has a population of 26,000, and is 13 miles south of Bath.

Values and vision

Farleigh Further Education College strives to support all students in preparing for adulthood, feeling empowered to make choices and optimising their independent living skills. In order to achieve this, the school provides an aspirational provision focused upon a positive understanding of autistic spectrum conditions. Also offered are one to three year intensive learning and independence programmes, and access to mainstream further education through individualised tailored academic and vocational courses.

Farleigh Further Education College aims to provide the widest range of courses for students through partnership agreements with local mainstream colleges. The school offers young people the option to choose from more than 150 courses including GCSEs, A-Levels, and pre-entry vocational courses. Students have previously studied a broad spectrum of subjects, including Japanese, Psychology, and Art.
