We are currently recruiting for a Work Related Learning, Library and Resources Manager at Penryn College. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate looking for a role that they can develop within a busy and highly popular secondary school, to help students get the most from their time at Penryn College and to prepare them for what lies ahead. 

Responsibilities include; leading Work Related Learning and associated activities to prepare pupils for future success in education, leading the work experience programme for all Year 10 pupils, leading Business Enterprise days, establishing relationships with local businesses to develop the business mentor programme and management of the school library and resource centre. 

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children in a work related learning role, organising work experience and a track record of developing business links. A knowledge and understanding of working in a library environment with the ability to create a well-functioning learning and resource facility that is a central part of students learning is essential. 

You will need to be a strong leader who is motivated, well organised and able to demonstrate an excellent attention to detail. Most important is a passion for student’s education to ensure they get the best careers advice and guidance, excellent work experience opportunities and have a well stocked library and resources centre. Previous experience working in a school or education environment is desirable but not essential.

The hours are 37 hours per week, term-time only plus inset days and 12 days. Normal working hours being Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm with half an hour for lunch each day, but there is a need to be able to work the hours flexibly to suit the needs of the school as the successful candidate will be expected to support the schools Careers and Work Related Learning events which take place during the evening throughout the school year.

Penryn College is a lively thriving college with an excellent reputation who cater for boys and girls aged between 11 and 16 years with a current number on roll of  over 1150 and we pride ourselves on offering the very best for our students.

Our modern school building, has a great range of resources, including an information rich environment, state of the art sporting facilities including a 6 badminton court size sports hall, the latest generation astro turf pitch, our own climbing wall and iPad’s for all students and staff.

Our College buildings and 10 acres of grounds are used extensively by the community for sporting activities, performances and fund raising activities. Our unique relationship with surrounding primary schools - known as the "Penryn Partnership" - helps primary children to settle in to the college whilst adjusting to their new environment.

Penryn College is a co-educational secondary school for children aged 11-16 and primarily serves the population of Penryn town and the surrounding villages in Cornwall. The college was designated a Sports College in 1998; a Leading Edge school in 2004; and a high-performing specialist college in 2006. In July 2011, it became an Academy.

Penryn College’s original site was in Falmouth, where it opened in 1957. It moved to its present site in 1961 and has since benefitted from a programme of continuous development, culminating in 2008 in the opening of its £24m new College building.

The College was Cornwall's 'Building Schools for the Future' pathfinder, and raised an additional £1.4 million to provide community sports facilities.

A large range of activities run before school, during lunchtimes and after school. There is also a 'Schools on Saturday’ programme for students and members of the community to attend, with a host of sporting, creative and academic activities.
