Are you passionate about empowering and enabling students to get into the workplace? We are looking for a personable, motivated professional to work closely with our WorkStart students. The role requires a self-starter who is able to build excellent links with potential employers, while upskilling students with SEND or barriers to learning to prepare them for the workplace.
WorkStart lecturers proactively support our students to develop job searching skills, to access work placements, to develop their English and maths skills in the classroom, and ultimately, to progress into employment.
If you have experience of working effectively with students with SEND or barriers to learning and you have the drive and tenacity to establish networks with external stakeholders, we would love to hear from you.
Orchard Hill College is a non-residential National Specialist College for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. It is a unique and rewarding place to work and has both a broad range of learners and a dynamic and supportive staff team. We treat our students with the dignity and respect they deserve and provide them with more opportunities than ever before to be part of the local community. We have centres in Carshalton, New Malden, Wandsworth, Camberwell, Sutton and Uxbridge.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of having delivered functional skills sessions and employability lessons, ensuring that students with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities and barriers to learning from Entry to Level 2 are supported in developing work skills to enable them to enter employment.
Our Lecturers manage and direct teaching teams to ensure effective, learner-centred teaching that meets the needs of adults with special needs. This will involve consulting carers, therapists and personnel from Social Services, as well as internal colleagues.
