Wrap Around Care Assistant

Overall purpose of the job:

To assist with the operation and delivery of the After School Club including supervision of the children for each session.  


Key responsibilities:

• To assist with the daily after school provision to ensure the quality of child care provision is of a high standard through creating: 

o A safe, stimulating and caring provision appropriate to the developmental needs of the children in order to enable children to develop their social, cognitive and physical skills and to meet their emotional needs; 

o A wide range of play experiences

• To maintain a supportive and secure atmosphere where children feel confident that their feelings will be respected and they may confide in those caring for them

• To assist in the preparation of the club each day so that when the children arrive it is functional, and that at the end of each session all equipment is stored away and the premises are left as they were found

• To assist in the provision of a suitable snack for the children, ensuring that it is hygienically and safely prepared and served

• To in consultation with the Wrap Around Care Manager ensure that the Club is appropriately resourced for the children’s entertainment.


We are looking for an individual who has full commitment to safeguarding children and who will be dedicated to working with young children. They must be confident in inspiring others and have good organisational skills.


The individual also must be well presented, possess' good communication skills and be approachable to both adults and children. They will be responsible for maintaining a supportive and secure atmosphere where children feel confident that their feelings will be respected and they may confide in those caring for them.


The role will be a part time, permanent position working 3.15pm-6.15pm term time only.

About Bury Grammar School Girls

Bury Grammar School Girls is an all-through, independent, mainstream school with a sixth form. It educates girls aged three to 18 in Bury, Lancashire. Around 812 pupils are currently enrolled. The school was founded in 1884. In 1906, it merged with Bury Grammar School Boys. In 1994, the boys were rehoused, but the two schools remain associated. 

In 2003, three science classrooms were revamped and a sixth-form study area was created. A new kindergarten building was established in 2008, with the  former kindergarten converted into a suite for modern foreign languages.
