Job overview
Introduction
This vacancy has arisen due to the planned retirement of the current Year 3 form teacher at the end of this academic year.
Teachers at Great Ballard are the backbone of a dedicated team where the education, pastoral care and welfare of the children are paramount. We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious professional who can demonstrate a flexible approach, an ability to work effectively both on their own initiative and as an integral part of a hard-working team, coupled with sensitivity and a commitment to the ethos of the school.
The successful candidate will be a well-qualified graduate teacher with the ability to teach across a wide range of KS2 subjects and ideally will be able to offer a Numeracy specialism, though a Literacy specialist can also be considered. The role of the form teacher is pivotal, especially with this age group. You will be responsible for the pupils’ pastoral welfare, take registration twice a day, be in regular contact with their parents and generally be responsible for this year group’s needs. You will be expected to contribute to the co-curricular life of the school according to your interests and inclinations. This will include the running of an afternoon activity and an after school club at least once a week. Staff are frequently involved in out of school activities, visits with their own forms and residential trips.
Most of the teaching takes place in the form room, but specialist rooms for Art/Technology, ICT, Music and Science are used as required. All junior children study English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, History, Geography, Spanish, DT, RS, Art, Drama and Music. They have games, PE and swimming periods. Some lessons are taught by subject specialists e.g. Games, Spanish, ICT, Music, Art and Design & Technology.
