The successful applicant will:

  • hold current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

We are seeking a primary classroom teacher. To be successful in this role you will be able to meet the following criteria: appropriate qualifications and experience, effective communication skills, an ability to work in partnership with colleagues, students and parents/carers, an ability to attend to detail in innovative and creative practices, and a clear understanding of the new Australian Curriculum. Applicants are required to address these points in the "letter of application" section of the on-line application form. As this position requires classroom teaching of Religious Education, applicants must be Catholic.

About St Joseph's Corinda Catholic Primary School

Situated in the suburb of Corinda, St Joseph's is a member of the Brisbane Catholic Education System in the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. The co-educational primary school has around 450 students currently enrolled, aged 5-12, and approximately 30 teaching staff.

The school was established in 1917 with 50 students attending on the first day, and was staffed by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. The motto of St Joseph's reads 'Justice, Love and Humility'.

Facilities

St Joseph's facilities include resourceful library equipped with multi-modal devices, specialist music rooms, an adventure playground, two tennis courts, indoor multi-purpose complex, sheltered play areas and large school oval, all in accordance with approved safety regulations.

Curriculum

The school follows the guidelines approved by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, with 4 key learning areas of Mathematics, English, Science and History. Physical Education, Geography, Media and Technology and Creative Arts are also implemented. Japanese is taught as the LOTE subject and is made available to Year 5, 6 and 7 students. Religious Education is another important learning area for the children of St Joseph which is taught to each year group from Prep to Year 7.
