Job overview

Classteacher (KS2) Main scale (with possibility of a TLR for the right candidate)

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious teacher for September 2018.  We are an outstanding one form entry primary school with Teaching School status which means that we take the lead in many exciting opportunities involving other teachers in Camden and further afield.  This is a rare opportunity to join our team and to rapidly grow professionally with us.  We are looking for someone who shares our passion and energy for primary education and who would welcome the chance to join a school with a strong and long-standing commitment to a rich and in-depth topic based curriculum.  Expertise and enthusiasm in visual and performing arts would be an advantage as would an interest in primary mathematics, our strength.

This is a lovely school.

We have;

• A socially and ethnically diverse inclusive school community;

• Lively and enthusiastic children;

• A well designed single storey building;

• A financial commitment to involving artists in school and to supporting a wide variety of trips and residentials  to bring our topic based curriculum to life;

• “Dynamic and inspirational leadership at all levels” (OfSTED 2011);

• A teaching culture characterised by creativity, innovation and continuous learning. Our most recent addition is a beautiful architect-designed science lab;

• A strong whole school community with lots of traditions and special events;

• Excellent relationships with Camden LA and national networks though our Teaching School status;

• Very good public transport links, moments away – Tufnell Park Station on the Northern Line.

To request an application pack, for an informal discussion about the post and/or to arrange a visit (which we strongly encourage), please telephone or e-mail Vicky Green at the school as above.  Our website is excellent and well worth a visit too!

Closing date: 12 noon Thursday 3rd May 2018

About Eleanor Palmer Primary School

We are a one form entry (30 children per year group) state funded community primary school for ages 3 -11, in the London Borough of Camden.  We are a happy, ambitious and inclusive school, reflecting the rich diversity of families in our area.

In October 2011 OfSTED wrote, "Dynamic and inspirational leadership at all levels, but particularly from the headteacher and governing body, have driven the school forward in its relentless quest for excellence...Parents and carers are fulsome in their praise for all that the school is doing for their children, as summed up by one when writing, 'Eleanor Palmer is an absolutely wonderful school - warm, nurturing, extremely well led and managed, with excellent teaching and a very inclusive ethos.' Through exemplary care, guidance and support, high quality teaching, a rich and stimulating curriculum and their determination to succeed, pupils make outstanding progress and attainment is high and rising by the end of Year 6."

In 2013 we were granted Teaching School status and we lead the Camden Primary Primary Partnership Teaching School Alliance.

Teaching Schools are part of the government’s drive to give schools more freedom and take increasing responsibility for managing the schools system – it is about schools working together in partnerships and through networks to identify and co-ordinate expertise and use the best teachers and leaders to:

1.  Provide outstanding Initial Teacher Training (we train 20 teachers a year across 12 schools)

2.  Support other schools to improve (we have supported many schools both primary and secondary).

3. Focus on professional development of teachers and other school staff (whether that's running CPD, research, Teach Meets or Joint Practice development.)

We are supported in our work by key strategic partner schools from across the borough of Camden. We also coordinate the Camden NQT Primary programme for all schools.
