A school in the Chaddesden area of Derby are looking for a year 6 teacher to assist them on a part time basis in order to help with the upcoming SATs tests. The teacher must have strong behaviour management skills as it is a challenging school and they’re looking to bring up their Ofsted rating. The school are finding it difficult to source year 6 trained staff, so this role is likely to be offered for an extended period of time, with it initially being advertised as lasting until Christmas. However, it isn’t uncommon for a school to prolong placements like these until the end of the academic year.
The school are currently changing the way in which they operate, putting the emphasis on academic performance whilst trying to encourage both the pupils and parents to be more involved in the whole process. Recently they have focused on extending their resources for teachers and making sure they have everything they could need to improve their lessons and lesson plans. Each year group has a Teaching Assistant who is available to help out with 1:1 support as well as in the general classroom setting.
The right candidate for this role will show good initiative and have a strong will and patience in order to bring these children up to the standards now being asked by the school. Good behaviour management is a must and enthusiasm to teach will go a long way in securing a future position for yourself in the school.
