CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract to cover a period of maternity leave which is expected to end July 2018 or upon the return of the substantive postholder 

SALARY: MPR/UPR + SEN allowance £2,085  

Are you an experienced and capable Primary School Teacher looking for a new challenge? Would you like the opportunity to take your valuable Primary experience into a secondary context and join our Year 7 team?  We are looking for an inspiring, motivated and enthusiastic teacher who would love to be part of our journey at The Barlow and could be instrumental in making a difference to our student’s education.

The English, Maths, Art and Design Technology departments were all remodeled, creating an environment that is both purposeful and inspiring.   

You will be located in Didsbury, (often voted as one of the most popular places to live in Manchester) only a short walk from the vibrant shops, bars and restaurants of Didsbury village. You will also have access to excellent transport links to Manchester city centre and surrounding areas.  

You will lead the Nurture provision, a small Year 7 class which provides a safe and structured environment to increase access to learning for children who are often marginalized and provides an extended transition period for pupils who may find it difficult moving from primary to secondary school.  You will teach a range of subjects including English, Maths, RE, History and Geography with the support of a Teaching Assistant. You will also assist in improving pupil’s self-esteem, self-management behaviours, social skills, self-awareness, confidence and their literacy and numeracy skills.   

You should:  

• Be an experienced primary classroom practitioner 

• Have a “Good” or better record from observations in the classroom

• Have the adaptability to hit the ground running 

• Demonstrate that the learner is at the centre of your vision;  

• Possess the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate  pupils; 

• Evidence an active role within the school and the wider community;  

• Be pro-active with the ability to act on your own initiative

The ability to teach English at Key Stage 3 would be an advantage, though not essential.
