Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019) with the inspection stating:

·       Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school

·       Leaders have the same high expectations of every pupil, whatever their background.

·       They encourage every pupil to do their best and to model the school’s shared values of ‘Opportunity, Belief and Aspiration’

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion.

The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer. It is conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders & benefits from excellent road and rail links.

Required for September 2023, we wish to appoint an enthusiastic & well motivated individual to join our team of Year Support Assistants. The post holder will be required to provide administrative support to the Head of Year in addition to supporting students, to help them achieve their targets. This is an interesting & varied role that includes working closely with students, parents, teaching staff & external agencies linked with the Academy.

This position would suit an individual who is supportive and enjoys the challenge of a busy and varied role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm.

The successful candidate will:

·       Be an effective communicator;

·       Possess excellent interpersonal skills;

·       Be well-motivated and approachable with a positive attitude;

·       Be able to build positive relationships with students; colleagues and parents

·       Possess excellent word processing skills (experience in the use of SIMs is desirable);

·       Have excellent organisational skills, be able to work unsupervised and the ability to plan and prioritise their workload;

·       The ability to relate well to young people is essential;

·       Be flexible in their approach to the requirements of the post.

We offer:

·       An opportunity to join a well-established and supportive team at an Academy with a strong ethos of teamwork and support, where staff are committed to raising attainment;

·       Development for staff through nationally recognised training courses;

·       Laptops for all staff;

·       Guidance, advice and support from both the department and senior leadership team who all want to make a positive difference to the education of all OBA students.

Closing date for receipt of applications: Midday – Friday 9th June 2023

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Ormiston Bushfield Academy (OBA).

I am extremely proud to be leading Ormiston Bushfield Academy at this exciting time in its development. I am committed to raising the aspirations of students by shaping the future of learning for the young people at the Academy.

At the heart of everything we do is a belief that every young person has the ability to achieve great things, coupled with a desire to provide the highest standards in teaching and learning. I have high expectations of all our students and am dedicated to creating an inclusive Academy where every student can feel safe, enjoy and achieve.

Our state-of-the-art building is an exciting learning environment that our students are proud of. Every student gets the opportunity to explore and learn through new technology that is both inspiring and at the forefront of educational and industry practice.

We also recognise that education is about much more than academic progress. The world into which our young people will emerge will present them with many challenges – and so, through high standards of presentation, behaviour and respect, we are dedicated to helping them develop into well-rounded individuals in all aspects of their lives.

We are a popular academy and we ensure that we get to know each and every one of our students as individuals. I feel strongly that the key to our future success is based on an effective partnership between students, staff, parents and carers.
