Youth Work Officer – Help Young People Succeed

Location: Oldham College

Contract: Term-Time Only (40 weeks)

Salary: £21,753- £22,810

Are you passionate about working with young people? Do you have experience in youth engagement, student support, or mentoring? We’re looking for a Youth Work Officer to join Oldham College and help students overcome barriers, improve attendance, and stay on track for success.

Key Responsibilities

• Student Engagement: Support students with attendance, well-being, and personal development.
• Pastoral Support: Identify student needs and connect them with the right support services.
• Outreach & Community Work: Conduct home visits and liaise with parents, guardians, and local agencies.
• Enrichment Activities: Develop and promote activities that encourage student participation.
• Safeguarding & Welfare: Work with the College’s safeguarding team to ensure students’ safety and well-being.

Skills & Experience Required

• Experience in youth work, student mentoring, or community outreach
• Strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and external agencies
• Knowledge of the challenges faced by young people and how to support them
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends
• Educated to Level 3 or higher in any subject
• Full UK driving license (desirable) for home visits
