2024 Pride Month Assembly KS3/KS4

(0)
Attached is an assembly resource that can be used either in whole year group assemblies or as a form/registration resource during Pride month. The assembly explores the history of Pride, key figures in the Stonewall uprisings, and then the history of Pride in the UK. It goes on to talk about why we still need Pride, with statistics from both the office of national statistics and Stonewall. Finally, there is a moment to thin about how we can be good allies and a slide with some charities who students can reach out to. There is guidance in the note sections for the teachers who are delivering the slides, and most slides have some scripting in them to aid delivery. There also some notes for teachers to edit the slides- it does not require a huge amount of editing, just making sure that the information is appropriate for your setting and your students.

CPD session on tackling homophobic behaviour

(0)
This is a CPD resource to be used for training staff in how and when to deal with homophobic/ biphobic/ transphobic comments that take place in the classroom. The CPD could be sent out as an email, could be used in a 15/20 minute briefing, or used as part of a longer CPd session on inclusivity etc. It also discusses what constitutes LGBTQ+phobic behaviour and comments, how to recognise them and when to deal with them. There is some use of statistics from some Stonewall studies to show the prevalence of LGBTQ+phobic language, as well as on the impact of this on LGBTQ+ Students. Please Note: This resource will need some input from the user to reflect the behaviour policy/appropriate members of staff/appropriate sanctions etc (for example, if you use SIMs to record bullying as opposed to using CPOMs you will have to edit to reflect this) *

Grow Your Vocabulary Display

This is a display that would be suitable for any classroom KS2 and above (my sixth formers even refer to mine sometimes!). It contains all the lettering and display resources you need for a full display, you just need to print in colour, cut and laminate. The pack contains the Grow Your Vocabulary lettering, plant pots with “boring” words printed on them (good, bad, said and went) and then the leaves on the plants have more interesting and specific synonyms. There are also blank leaves to add your own words if you would like to. Enjoy!

Prince and Knight Book Reading Guide EYFS and KS1

Prince and Knight Book Reading Guide EYFS and KS1

(0)
A resource to be used in conjunction with the book “Prince and Knight” by Daniel Haack. A great LGBTQ+ friendly story, beautifully illustrated and engaging, which has many different layers in which to discuss. This resource includes example activities for before, during, and after reading, questions to ask during the reading of the book, and suggested activities to consolidate learning once the book has been finished. Aimed at early years and KS1, but could easily be adapted to work for KS2 if necessary. There is also scaffolding within the resource and use of Makaton signs to discuss emotions. Teacher notes at each stage of the resource guide the teacher and make suggestions. A great resource for anyone looking to add more diverse books and characters into their classroom but unsure of where to start or how to begin discussing these topics with younger students.
