Job overview

Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 930 pupils aged 7-18. An HMC and IAPS school, situated on a 25-acre site near the city centre, our strong links to the local community, well-established pastoral care systems and fantastic teaching enable us to challenge, inspire and deliver the very best learning to our pupils.

We are looking to appoint a Facilities Assistant to start as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the post-holder will play a key role in ensuring that the Facilities team within the Operations Department provides the service required to support the needs of the school.

In general, the duties required of the post holder are to work as an individual or as a member of a team in assisting in the running of the School by providing minor maintenance, cleaning, tidying, porterage and security as well as school minibus driving duties.

The post-holder must be able to communicate effectively; understand the importance of health and safety procedures relevant to the job; be able to recognise and deal with emergency situations; and have a clean, current driving licence (minibus training can be provided).

Specific qualifications, experience and/or training should be made clear on your application, and all will be advantageous in the application process.  As important, however, is the desire to provide a high level of service to meet the school’s exacting standards.

This is a permanent, full-time position of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Some weekend and evening work is required for which overtime will be paid.

The role will attract a salary of £19,500 (£10.00/hour) as well as generous benefits including a free school lunch during term time, and an 8% employer contribution to the school’s approved pension scheme.

Closing date for applications is 12noon on Monday 21st February.  However, early application is highly recommended as interviews will be held as suitable applications are received.

For an informal discussion about this job or to request an application form, please contact Mrs Julie Furniss, HR Officer on 01392 307080 (select option 1 for Bursary).  To submit an online application, please apply via TES.  Please ensure that you complete our application form as CV’s alone will not be accepted.

Exeter School is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from any appropriately qualified person. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.  Employment is subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references provided specifically for this post and addressed to the school, and to satisfactory DBS clearance.
