We require an experienced, dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly skilled teacher of Design & Technology for a maternity cover post. The successful candidate would be capable of delivering KS3 lessons across multiple material areas. Delivery of KS4 lessons in GCSE DT (Product Design) to be discussed. KS5 A-Level Product Design experience can be offered, if desirable.

Our successful Humanities Faculty comprises the subject of Geography, History and Religious Education. The successful candidate will teach KS3 & 4 History and contribute to the teaching of KS3 Geography, RE & Personal Development if required.

The Humanities Faculty is a welcoming team which consists of 13 teaching staff with a range of experiences. They are committed to providing all students with the opportunities to thrive in subject fluency and are experts in the creation on engaging lessons both in and out of the classroom.

A level DT: Product Design is taught on site in partnership with Bilborough College with class sizes up to 16 students.

The Fernwood School has a thriving, well equipped and forward-thinking ADT faculty and you would be joining a high performing and cohesive team of teachers and technical staff. The ADT faculty has a strong reputation throughout the midlands and is one of only 4 leading edge schools for D&T nationwide, having achieved multiple awards for the quality of our teaching and our broader curriculum approach.

The faculty comprises of Design & Technology, Food Technology, Art & Design and ICT, within which staff work very closely and collaboratively.

The department benefits from 3 well equipped mixed material workshops, with modern CNC equipment, 3D printers, full casting and metal work facilities, large bed laser cutter, A0 printer, along with electronics and robotics equipment and much more. We are lucky to have 3 dedicated D&T specific computer rooms within the department, with industry standard CAD and graphics software installed including access to graphics tablets as needed.

This role is not suitable for ECT candidates.

The Fernwood School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-16 academy, situated in Wollaton in Nottingham. The school has been recognised by Ofsted and the Department for Education for excellent academic standards and outstanding care and discipline. It achieved Leading Edge status for excellent practice in 2004. There are 1,016 students on the school roll.
