Job overview

This is a new role which has been created to add capacity to the senior leadership team in key areas of continual school improvement: Personal development, attendance and family engagement – all of which are key components to ensuring high standards of behaviour in school. As part of Manchester’s journey to become a ‘Rights Respecting City’, we are also looking for a colleague to lead on this status for the school.

Who are we?

Manchester Communication Primary Academy opened its doors in September 2014 to a small cohort of EYFS/Y1 children, since then it has grown by a 2-form year group each year. The school is now full, with over 450 pupils on roll.

Our last Ofsted inspection graded the school as ‘Good’ stating that ‘pupils feel welcome, cared for and safe at this friendly school. From the Nursery Year up to Year 6, pupils love coming to school because they know that staff will take excellent care of them.’

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an inspirational leader, who will lead by example, demonstrating proactivity and positivity in all situations. You will be a support to colleagues, pupils and families, seeking to constantly improve engagement with learning through excellent personal development, attendance and behaviour in school.

You will need to have a strong understanding of the value of nurturing principles, as these are core to our school’s approach. You will also able to make astute use of data to offer personalised and targeted support to pupils, staff and families.

What does the role involve?

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join an effective team, work with inspirational pupils and diverse families.

The successful candidate will not be class-based, but you will teach – as all of our SLT do.

You will demonstrate excellence as the do this. You will lead strategically on family engagement and attendance, line-managing the leaders of these aspects; as well as being the senior leader who oversees personal development (including the PHSE curriculum) and behaviour.

You will work as a key part of the senior team, supporting the day to day operational leadership of the school.

When does the role start?

September 2024

If I’m still interested, what should I do next?

We think that applying for a new role should always be seen as a 2-way process, you have to be right for us, but the school also has to be right for you. So if you are interested in applying, please do feel free to get in touch, come for a look around, or have a chat about the role.
