Job overview
English is very much at the heart of the OLA curriculum and we seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic teacher to join this key department to teach at all levels. We are able to consider applications from suitable candidates who are not available until October 2024 or January 2025.
At GCSE, pupils study Edexcel IGCSE English language and English Literature, and OLA Sixth students study Edexcel 9ET0. All pupils at OLA study English in Years 7, 8 and 9, and English Language and English Literature in Years 10 and 11. Pupils are taught in small groups throughout the school, and A-level English is popular.
We welcome applications from both experienced candidates, ECTs and those at the very start of their teaching careers. We support teachers who wish to complete an on-the-job PGCE, and this is done in partnership with the University of Buckingham.

- Experience of teaching up to, and including A Level.

Abingdon-on-Thames is an historic, modern market town situated eight miles south of Oxford, with its world renowned reputation as a centre of academic excellence. The town supports a mixed international community and has excellent bus links to Oxford, which is just a 15 minute ride away and provides a wealth of social and cultural opportunities.
