As a Science Laboratory Technician you will be assisting the Senior technician setting up Science classrooms, controlling stocks, and supporting Science teachers and students, in order that students achieve their full potential in school. You will gain experience in an Education setting, both in Health and Safety and supporting pupils.

The entry requirements for this role are a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent A to C Grades) including Maths, English and Dual Science. You will complete a Laboratory Technician Level 3 qualification. You will attend Sheffield College 1 day per week, and spend the other four in school, working under an experienced senior technician.

This is an exciting opportunity to be in a real job, with real variety, from day one, whilst working towards a qualification.

The successful candidate will have excellent people and communication skills and will be flexible to adapt to changing situations. You will need to relate well both to young people and to other staff members.

To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, applicants must have resided in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start of the Apprenticeship and must not hold a level 4 (or equivalent) qualification or above. Please note: applicants must not be a graduate or have already completed an apprenticeship.

This will be a fixed term position and the duration of the apprenticeship will be determined by the job role and current skills. The minimum length of the apprenticeship will be one year and one week.

This position is required to commence in September 2018.
