Assistant Director of Music

The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School is seeking to appoint a highly qualified, inspirational and enthusiastic Assistant Director of Music.  This is an opportunity to join one of the most successful and high profile school music departments in the country. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching and will be a confident, performing musician, able to bring their own particular skills to the Department. They will have a real passion for their subject and will be willing to contribute extensively to the musical life of the School.

Music is central to life at the Vaughan and the work of the Music Department is highly regarded. The Vaughan’s Schola Cantorum choir, is prominent in London’s professional concert life, providing boys for chorus work at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera, singing at the BBC Proms and the Aldeburgh Festival in 2017 and frequently giving concerts of its own alongside groups such as St James’s Baroque and His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts. More than four hundred instrumental and singing lessons are given each week and there is a wide variety of ensembles and orchestras. Academic music is strong, with large numbers of pupils choosing to study music at GCSE and in the Sixth Form. The School has an impressive tradition of pupils winning Organ and Choral Awards at Oxbridge and many students go on to study Music at University.
