Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to support with the strategic direction of our already successful English faculty. We are a school who looks to support the development of our staff to enable them to become the teachers and leaders that will see them develop the skills and attributes to successfully maintain and guide a high-performing team.

At a time of growth and genuine excitement for our school, we have a new wing of the building that opened in September 2022, we are looking for someone with a genuine passion for the subject, who wants to inspire and guide the students of Ernesford to a future of which they can be proud and successful in.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Teacher of English with a vision to support the leadership of our English team, working in close collaboration with our existing Head of Faculty to enable students to achieve excellence from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 5. We offer Eduqas GCSE English Literature and Language. In addition we also offer Edexcel English Literature at KSS and are expanding our offer to include English Language at A Level. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about further developing the planning and delivery of our KS3, KS4 and KSS curriculum.

You will be working alongside a large team of talented staff in a department with a passion for teaching and a desire to foster excellence in all our learners. The faculty includes a well established Media offer, alongside Music, Performing Arts and English Language and Literature. As part of the role, the successful candidate will have a substantive involvement in the English curriculum both in terms of delivery and development. The team is committed to our pupils and has a strong culture of collaboration and interdependence. We are open to new strategies of teaching English and are always willing to explore ideas. Any new staff member will be welcomed into the team and given the support and development opportunities required to be the best.
