Ernesford Grange Community Academy is seeking to appoint an outstanding Associate Head of Science with a vision to lead our science faculty to achieve excellence for all students at all Key Stages.

We are looking for an experienced classroom practitioner who has;

• Integrity, drive and commitment

• Excellent subject knowledge

• An ambitious vision to co-create a science curriculum that will ignite a passion for science amongst our young people

• The ability to lead, support, challenge and inspire our science staff

• A strong classroom presence to achieve high levels of student engagement and progress.

You will be leading a science faculty determined to achieve success for all of our students at a very exciting time in a school that has recently been transformed from Special Measures to Good (OFSTED, May 2019).

Students in Key Stage 3 follow a Scheme of Work that develops deep knowledge and understanding of key concepts. At KS4 we offer combined science GCSE, in addition to the separate sciences using the OCR exam board and entry-level. We offer A-level courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students are set by ability for teaching and learning purposes and this is reviewed half termly with individual progress discussed regularly. are encouraged to attend our after school classes which include extension and revision sessions.

The Faculty consists of seven specialist teachers, two full time laboratory technicians and allocated classroom support staff. There is support from the Leadership team and a comprehensive CPD programme. The Science staff work area is the ’hub’ for sharing good/outstanding resources and each subject area has a well-stocked preparation room. 

The curriculum area is very well-resourced with specialist laboratories, each with computer and projection facilities. It is an excellent teaching and learning environment.

We are part of the Sidney Stringer Academy Multi Academy Trust, which consists of five schools; Sidney Stringer Academy, Ernesford Grange Community Academy, Riverbank Academy (Special School),  Radford Primary Academy and Sidney Stringer Primary School.
