Brickwork Instructor
Construction
Salary: £27,350 to £31,590 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week
Reference: REC2136 | Closing Date: Thursday, 15th May 2025
The Opportunity
Based at our state-of-the-art CUBE facility, you’ll help our learners gain the skills they need to succeed in the construction industry. You’ll teach practical bricklaying techniques to students on full-time, part-time, and apprenticeship courses, mainly from Level 1 to Level 3. You’ll work in a well-equipped workshop where health and safety are always a priority, and you’ll support our learners as they build their confidence and prepare for work or further study.
Your job is about more than teaching. You’ll assess learners’ progress, give useful feedback, and work with tutors and assessors to link classroom learning with hands-on practice. You’ll also help learners stay motivated and focused, offering guidance and support when needed.
You’ll prepare teaching materials, manage tools and equipment, and keep the workshop running smoothly. You’ll carry out learner inductions, check their progress, and take part in meetings and training to keep your own skills up to date. You’ll also be involved in quality checks like standardisation meetings and audits.
A teaching or assessor qualification (like a PGCE or Cert Ed) would be a bonus, but it’s not essential. What matters most is your practical knowledge and your ability to inspire others. If you’re not yet qualified to teach, we’ll support you to gain the right training on the job.
This is a great opportunity to use your trade experience to inspire and support the next generation. You’ll be part of a friendly, forward-thinking college where your skills are truly valued. Whether you're already in education or new to teaching, we’ll support you with professional development and training. You’ll also benefit from generous annual leave and a great work-life balance—so you can make a real impact while enjoying more time for yourself.
About You
We’re looking for someone with solid bricklaying experience who wants to help others learn the trade. You might already be working in education, or you could be a skilled bricklayer ready for a new challenge. Either way, you’ll need a good understanding of industry standards and safe working practices.
You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and knows how to explain things clearly. You’ll support and motivate our learners, help them grow in confidence, and keep them engaged in their training. You’ll also be organised, dependable, and focused on helping students do their best.
A teaching or assessor qualification (like a PGCE or Cert Ed) would be a bonus, but it’s not essential. If you don’t have one yet, that’s okay – we’ll help you train on the job. What matters most is your practical knowledge and your willingness to support and inspire others. You’ll also work closely with tutors and support staff, so being a good team player is important.
