Job overview

Outwood Academy City Fields seeks applications from an experienced Catering Manager who is passionate about bringing high-quality nutritious meals into a culturally diverse and food-forward school. We wish to employ someone who can ensure high-quality catering is provided for all children, staff and visitors.

City Fields is a multicultural school in the heart of the Wakefield community. Our school supports the local community and the wealth of opportunities our diverse background brings. Anyone wanting to take on this role should be prepared to challenge themselves to meet the needs of a diverse palate.

Outwood Academy City Fields is an 11-16 academy based in the friendly cathedral city of Wakefield. The Academy was rated Good by Ofsted in March 2022. We joined the Outwood Family of Schools in 2018.

We were delighted that in its latest report, Ofsted noted ‘Outwood Academy City Fields is a school where leaders want the very best for pupils. Their motto of putting ‘students first’ is something that directs and guides leaders’ actions each day. Because leaders set such a strong example of their high ambitions for pupils, other staff mirror these aspirations’.

We are seeking an individual who understands the crucial link between nutrition and learning, and can deliver a catering service that supports student achievement and overall well-being. They should have strong communication skills to be able to deliver effective customer service and build positive relationships within the school community and an ability to work within a team.

The successful candidate will be able to lead the established team of Catering Assistants through a period of change to provide an outstanding in house catering provision. The role will ensure a smooth and efficient counter service across 3 lunch services, breakfast and split breaks, all of which are fast paced. The role will also maintain high standards of hygiene and involve developing innovative menus and healthy meals in line with Nutritional Standards.

As part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust, we benefit from the support and experience of our Family of Schools as well as being able to provide our staff with exceptional professional development through the Outwood Institute of Education.

The successful candidate will be supported through an induction process with experienced colleagues and working within an internal operational framework.
