Job overview

Chief Executive Officer for the Northern Regional Academy Trust of the Diocese of Middlesbrough

The Diocese of Middlesbrough is transforming its current schools and academies structures to create 3 large Regional Catholic Academy Trusts serving the Northern, Central and Southern regions of the Diocese. These system leading Trusts will place Catholic education in the Diocese at the forefront of the national schools system, securing outstanding Catholic education for all our children and young people whilst protecting and developing the Catholic identity and mission of our schools. We are planning for the Northern Regional Trust to open in September 2018.

All 54 primary and secondary diocesan schools will join one of three Regional Catholic Multi-Academy Trusts with the Northern Trust covering 25 schools and academies currently operating as;

  • St Oswald’s Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (Redcar & Cleveland) - St Peter’s Catholic College, St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary Academy, St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy and St Gabriel’s Catholic Primary Academy.
  • Our Lady of Light Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (Stockton on Tees) - St Patrick’s Catholic College, St Patrick’s Catholic Primary Academy, Christ the King Catholic Primary Academy and St Therese of Lisieux Catholic Primary Academy.
  • Nicholas Postgate Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (Redcar & Cleveland) - Sacred Heart Catholic Secondary Academy, St Benedict’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Bede’s Catholic Primary Academy and St Paulinus Catholic Primary Academy.
  • St Hilda’s Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (Middlesbrough) - Trinity Catholic College, Corpus Christi Catholic Primary Academy, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary Academy, St Alphonsus’ Catholic Primary Academy, St Edward’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Augustine’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Gerard’s Catholic Primary Academy, St Thomas More Catholic Primary Academy and St Clare’s Catholic Primary Academy.
  • St Pius X RC Voluntary Aided Primary School

We are seeking a Chief Executive Officer to play the key role of leading and shaping outstanding Catholic education within our Northern Trust, supporting the performance and development of Catholic education across the diocese as a whole.

This post provides a career defining and extremely attractive opportunity for an outstanding Catholic school leader to realise their full potential. The Candidate will be a practising Catholic with demonstrable experience of successful system leadership/school improvement, across more than one school, leadership that has previously led to rapid and sustained improvement.

The Candidate will be an inspirational leader with strong interpersonal skills and will build a foundation of professional relationships that encourage collaborative and transparent working. You will be flexible and able to adapt to change, as well as comfortable in what will be a consistently high performance environment.
