Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School (Tanglin), Singapore, enjoys a rich heritage of providing British-based learning with an international perspective. Following the announcement of Peter Derby-Crook’s planned departure we seek candidates for the CEO position. This is a critical appointment given that the appointed candidate will influence and shape the nature and ethos of the community. Whilst it is important for the CEO to bring presence as the overall leader of the school, it is very important to operate as a ‘leader of leaders’, striking the right balance between the CEO, the Heads of Schools and other Directors. It is a role which brings commitments and opportunities beyond the office; building and developing relationships across and beyond Singapore is a core aspect of the CEO’s responsibilities.
The CEO is the bridge of communication between the Board of Governors and the school community. This link is key in ensuring that the vision and development of the school aligns with the agreed purpose. Keeping all three schools aligned is important to ensure a continuity of wellbeing, learning and growth from nursery to sixth form graduation. Within this vision, the responsibility for maintaining high standards and expectation emanates from the CEO. The tone of the school should be established and maintained by the CEO.
