Taylor’s Schools has been educating children for over 20 years and continues to nurture new generations of learners today. We are the largest private K-12 schools group in Malaysia, currently with five schools in Malaysia and one in Singapore. This position will be based in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore reporting to the President of Taylor’s Schools. You will be part of Taylor’s Schools Office and play a significant role in the overall teaching and learning direction of Taylor’s Schools and its portfolio of schools in the region.

Job Responsibility

The Chief Learning Officer (CLO) will collaborate with our Principals and the academic teams at the schools to provide the strategic direction for the development and implementation of a quality teaching and learning framework, program development and accreditation, management of resources and provision of academic services that enrich the student experience.

The key is to ensure that we provide learning at the schools that is relevant to this day and age. The CLO will also be providing pedagogical direction for digital education and the use of technology in teaching and learning in alignment with the strategic priorities of the schools.

Together with the schools, the CLO will develop a shared vision, and define and implement a multi-year strategic plan for the comprehensive integration of technology, promoting excellence and supporting change throughout the instructional environment.

Digital Strategy and Leadership

  • Inspire and lead the development, communication, and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of technology to support a digital-age education that includes information literacy, programming, design thinking, and innovative learning environments.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of a technology-infused strategic plan across the Taylor’s Schools. Set KPIs (key performance indicators) for both long and short-term goals.
  • Seek user feedback and measure the impact and effectiveness of the strategies implemented
  • Working with schools in all aspects of its digital development including the formulation and implementation of the school’s Digital Transformation or Blueprint
  • Work alongside Taylor’s Schools and Schools’ Leadership Team, ensuring that the software and hardware infrastructure of the Schools are capable of supporting the digital vision
  • Proactively research methods of enhancing teaching and learning to ensure that the School is at the cutting edge of its field, staying abreast of developments within other schools and across the technology sector
  • Play an active role in representing the school externally, taking part in conferences, keeping up to date with digital trends
  • Oversee online and blended learning, future-proofing the School in a context where learning must take place online

Teaching and Learning

  • Proven success in working collaboratively with Schools’ Leadership Team and an ability to build highly productive relationships across a range of internal and external partners in developing the Schools’ teaching and learning strategy
  • Provide pedagogical leadership across schools with the objective to support the development of teachers as informed, reflective practitioners who use inquiry-teaching strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all learners to become self-regulated, life-long learners and leaders.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree but an Advanced Degree qualification specialising in Education and/or Teaching and Learning is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of digital curriculum development and instructional strategies and tools in K-12 schools, including the management and evaluation of teaching and learning effectiveness
  • Demonstrated experience in effective teaching and learning including ability to develop scholarly, innovative and flexible approaches to teaching and the facilitation of learning
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and assessing the effective use of technology in learning environments
  • Effective at bringing varied entities together to collaborate and implement digital curriculum that supports learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholders and align on strategic plans for digital learning in specific and overall teaching and learning in general and have successful track records in delivering on those plans.

Taylor's International School Kuala Lumpur is part of Taylor’s Education Group, Malaysia’s premier private education group which operates Taylor’s International School in Puchong, Garden International School, and Nexus International Schools (in Malaysia and Singapore), The Australian International School in Malaysia, as well as Taylor’s University (Southeast Asia's No 1 private university). The School

Our campus is located very close to the CBD, and the main shopping malls of KL city centre. The school has transformed from a Malaysian curriculum school with a rich 30 year history into now its 10th year as an International Curriculum School.

With a current enrolment of over 1200 students (50% Asian expatriates and 50% Malaysian) and around 40 different nationalities, our school is a busy, thriving community of learners. Approximately 10% of teachers at the school are expatriates with the remainder of the teachers being Malaysian. We are a truly international school that is very proud of its Malaysian roots and identity providing a rapidly developing, vibrant multicultural learning environment.

Taylor's International School offers a holistic education from Early Years to IGCSE, and follows the National Curriculum of England at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, adapted for Malaysia. All students study Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. The school follows IGCSE courses from CAIE.

Our curriculum is so much more than just academic lessons and as an International Curriculum School, we also place emphasis on academic excellence, character building and physical health and development.
