Job overview

Join us as we continue to transform learning within our community.

The Boulevard Academy opened in September 2013 and since then we have welcomed three cohorts of Year 7 students through our doors. In preparation for our fourth year, we are excited to welcome a NQT teacher to our vibrant and forward thinking team.

We have achieved much in our first three years. We’re incredibly proud to have been judged to be outstanding in all aspects by OfSTED in our first inspection (May 2015). We enjoy a national profile, drawing on our forward thinking approach to education. The Boulevard Academy was also highlighted in HMCI’s Annual Report as an example of an academy that is transforming education in the UK.

We now want to build our talented staff team to ensure we continue to provide this excellent level of education to our fourth cohort who will join us in 2016.

The academy is situated in a new state-of-the-art school building which has transformed the learning opportunities available to our students and the community. Our philosophy is based on personalised learning for all students (the Knowledge is Power Programme) and our aim is to offer learners, parents and the community a new choice of secondary education in Hull. To join us, it is essential you will be passionate about working in a forward thinking academy environment.

This is an exciting time for an individual to join an academy which embraces change and innovation and one where community links and parental engagement are high on our agenda. We put literacy and numeracy at the heart of our curriculum model, meaning you’ll have the chance to hone the teaching skills that will be integral to your future career.

To join us, you’ll be a talented and motivated NQT (from either a primary or secondary background) who will spend time with students in KS3 ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to progress well into KS4.

You will be:

  • A talented primary or secondary NQT and looking to start your career in a supportive environment;
  • A teacher who has the passion and skills to help all of our students fulfil their potential;
  • Inspirational to colleagues and students- your energy, vision and creativity will be needed as we continue to develop our academy.

We can offer:

  • A unique opportunity to work closely with the Principal, SENCO and Subject Leads;
  • The opportunity to influence learning as we grow each year;
  • Tailored smaller class sizes, and an environment which is conducive to learning;
  • A strong commitment to tailored professional development;
  • A leadership team that will take an interest in your career and support you both professionally and personally;
  • A school building which provides world class resources within our purpose built campus.

This role is not a typical teaching role. Located on the site of the former Hull FC Stadium on The Boulevard in West Hull we moved into our brand new, purpose-built Academy in September 2013. Following our approval to expand we will ultimately cater for 900 students aged between 11 and 16. The academy serves students from across the city and we are proud to serve the community of West Hull.

Our mission:

“To work with all our students to assist them to develop the high expectations, academic and life skills that will best help them to be successful. Fostering personal confidence and happiness, we will challenge students to take responsibility for building a better world for the next generation.”

To make this a reality we will:

  • Ensure every child achieves, no matter what their starting point.
  • Set high expectations and create a culture of success to ensure the best outcomes for all.
  • Ensure our teaching delivers academic achievement across a range of subjects as well as developing a positive attitude to succeed in all students.
  • Provide all students with a learning plan based on frequent assessment, monitoring and data analysis.
  • Have an expectation that all parents and students participate fully in the school experience and actively support the school in its mission.
  • We will select only the best staff to work with and for our students because the right people make the difference.
  • Demonstrate the joy of learning and the importance of community.

We believe that this approach will best enable our students to leave the academy well equipped in the ‘life skills’ that they will need to be successful in whatever pathway they choose.

Joining us

By joining us at The Boulevard Academy you will be joining us as we have just received approval to expand our school and its buildings. The plans for this expansion include new music and drama facilities; technology rooms for practical and digital studies as well as more general teaching classrooms; a new staff area and a Learning Resource area. Our vision can only be realised by recruiting exceptional colleagues, who can make a purposeful and lasting impact on the community we serve.

We are looking for inspirational and innovative teachers and support staff with creativity and drive, who will make a real difference to all the young people who attend our academy. Staff will have the opportunity to accelerate their own career, working closely with Senior Leaders to shape lasting change.

If this opportunity to be part of our exciting new phase enthuses you, then we want to hear from you.
