About Nord Anglia International School Al Khor

Nord Anglia International School (NAISAK) serves the local and expat community of Al Khor in Qatar. Qatar is booming as it prepares for the World Cup in December 2022, and the town of Al Khor is proud to be home to one of the World Cup stadiums. A sunny climate year-round and an airport with fantastic global connections ensure the continued popularity of this destination for expats.

We are seeking an experienced leader to take us through our next phase of development at NAISAK. We follow a bespoke version of the English National Curriculum in the Secondary School, culminating in IGCSE, AS and A level. The school has Qatar National Schools Accreditation (QNSA) and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME).

Nord Anglia International School Al Khor (NAISAK) is a 3-18 through school with 1000+ pupils currently on roll. Secondary is 4-form entry at Key Stage 3, and 2-form entry upwards, with approximately 370 students aged 11-18. We educate both local and expat students through a bespoke Secondary curriculum which draws on the English National Curriculum, The Qatar Ministry of Education Curriculum and a concept-based approach. The school prides itself on fostering student wellbeing, personalisation of learning and a strong sense of multiculturalism and global citizenship, through a vibrant home-school partnership. We also have strong through-school links and ensure consistent progression from Primary to Secondary to offer all our students a rewarding learning journey.

Global academic results

The 2020-2021 school year was the strongest ever in terms of Nord Anglia Education’s academic results. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students achieved a 36.2 global point average and a 98% pass rate, with over 20 students earning a perfect score of 45. In the A-levels, our students achieved 65.4% of grades at A*-A, along with 83.7% at A*-B, with a group-wide pass rate of 99.4% and seven schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate. In this year’s I/GCSE results, 59.6% of students achieved A*-A grades, with a group-wide pass rate of 89.5% and 13 Nord Anglia schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate.

About the role

A key member of the School Leadership Team, you will provide direction, inspiration and guidance to our Secondary teaching staff. Together with the Head of Secondary, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school. You will have particular responsibility for the Secondary School curriculum and play a key role in ensuring the quality of teaching & learning across the school. You will work alongside the Heads of Department, the pastoral team and the SEN Director to ensure academic progress and attainment are the best we can achieve for our students. You will be in charge of the Sixth Form and ensure their wellbeing and school experience are conducive to the highest results for each individual. Together with class teachers and the pastoral team, you will ensure high standards of behaviour and pastoral care in school. You will work with the Principal to develop further the mission, vision and strategic direction of the school as we strive for continuous school improvement.

About you

Able to drive excellence by valuing and developing others, you will be a qualified teacher with extensive experience of both hands-on teaching and management in education. This means you will be fully up to date with curriculum developments. Strong on leadership and people management, you will have a flair for setting and meeting challenging performance targets. 

Able to work with a high degree of cultural sensitivity in our changing and fast-paced international environment, you will have the ability to use a range of communication strategies and channels. Your emerging commercial, financial, market and organisational awareness will enable you to work as part of a team that devises effective solutions to our challenges.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Qatar including possession of a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching qualification from a face-to-face (non-online) course.

Selection process

The closing date for application is 31st December 2021. Due to global travel restrictions, all interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams/video call. Interviews are going to be held in January 2022.

Our curriculum model and international accreditations

A Nord Anglia Education school since 2012, NAISAK prides itself on being a British curriculum school with a global outlook. Our 3-18 education begins with the English EYFS Framework. We then deliver a bespoke Primary curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England but tailored to meet the needs of our local and international students.
