Job overview

The role of Deputy Head with the responsibility in the Secondary Boys Section is to support the Head of Secondary and to provide strategic, managerial, and academic leadership within the Section of the School. The Deputy Head is a key management leadership role that is expected to contribute to the strategic development and operational management of the section in delivering the school strategy and contribute to resource planning activities.

General Duties and Responsibilities:-

• The Deputy Head responsible to the boy section, in collaboration with the School Principal, is expected to further raise Standards of Teaching and Learning and to take charge of the management and leadership of the relevant Section.

• The Deputy Head is expected to undertake any professional duties of the Principal reasonably delegated.

The Deputy Head / Branch is expected to:-

• Assume responsibility for the selection and hiring of teaching and support staff in conjunction with the School Principal as necessary.

• Provide guidance, feedback and mentoring in support of the professional development of the primary school staff at Doha Academy.

• Lead the teaching and support staff in the implementation of agreed policies to best achieve the goals and objectives of the school.

• Plan and implement the schedule of classes and assign staff to their duties and responsibilities.

The Deputy Head is expected to:-

• Implement the acceptance and withdrawal policy for students.

• Assign accepted students to a grade level and courses of study consistent with their aptitude, ability and aspirations for further study.

• Ensure that classroom teachers maintain accurate records of attendance and performance.

• Ensure regular student/parent/teacher conferences for reporting student progress.

• Ensure that all current academic records are kept up to date and that archive materials are appropriately stored.
