Job overview

Theale Green School is a vibrant secondary school in West Berkshire which joined the Activate Learning Education Trust on 1 April 2018, taking it to the next exciting stage on its path to excellence. With a revised curriculum and our new head teacher Jo Halliday, who started - in September 2018, this is an excellent time to join an up-and-coming school within a well-respected and rapidly expanding MAT. We are seeking to appoint new members to our talented and inspirational team; those with the drive and passion to take the school forward in the next phase of development. These are rare opportunities for talented learning professionals with the aspiration to grow their career within a successful MAT

The role of Deputy Headteacher is going to be critical to the future of our plan for rapid improvement and to once again make Theale Green the local school of choice. The students are creative and enthusiastic, the staff are loyal and determined and the facilities without doubt good.

Over time, the reputation of the school has changed, but the reality of Theale Green School is that it is a good school with huge potential to stretch to the stars. It is clear that the parents of our students believe in the school and all it has to offer. As we make robust improvements to Teaching and Learning, we are planning to build a world class curriculum, grounded in local context and one that fully meets the needs and aspirations of our young people. As the potential new Deputy Headteacher, you will have a strong experience of curriculum management through your leadership background, but also have an exceptional presence through which you will deliver your vision.

The Deputy Headteacher will have specific responsibility for:

• Curriculum development and management

• Quality of Teaching Learning and Assessment

• Personal Development Behaviour and Welfare of students

• Outcomes for students

This will involve development of a first class curriculum ensuring that the curriculum supports the mission of intent, alongside meeting the needs of all individual students as well as the financial goals of the school; additionally the role will include leadership of assessment and data, the management of which will be driven by development of the Curriculum. You will be working with the TGS Senior Leadership Team and the Activate Learning Education Trust to ensure our statement of intent is met by ensuring the highest standards and expectations in teaching, learning, behaviour, leadership and fiscal management are promoted and achieved.      This is a senior leadership role deputising for the Headteacher as and when required and in this role you will contribute actively to the development of the TGS Development Plan and Self Evaluation.
