Job overview

As an Early Years Class Teacher you will support the academy in implementing and delivering a broad, balanced, rich and varied curriculum for students, to improve the outcomes for all. You will effectively monitor pupil achievement, be responsible for general administrative class duties, and maintain good educational ethos.

As part of your past experience, you'll have successful experience of teaching in early years, collaborating effectively with other adults and work constructively as part of a team.

We’re looking for a teacher who is passionate about working with children and young people. Co-op Academy Oakwood places the pupils at the heart of all we do. About  us:

Oakwood is situated in the Gipton area of Leeds, and is a two form entry school with places for 420 pupils. It became a Co-operative Academy in September 2013.

Co-op Academy Oakwood is committed to promoting community cohesion within a multi-cultural and mobile community. Our curriculum and the consistent approach to behaviour and attitudes results in a positive environment; where children are welcomed whatever their background and educational history and quickly become part of the school community.  Children have a very good attitude to school and to learning resulting in high levels of attendance.

An engaging, wide ranging, relevant curriculum creates a school where children of varied backgrounds and experiences can respect each other, contribute, learn, feel valued and make progress. We provide a high quality education with a focus on essential Maths and English skills. This is embedded in a curriculum that offers opportunities for children to achieve in all subjects.  The strong ethos of the school supported by the Co-operative values of the sponsor supports a curriculum that educates explicitly about different backgrounds and cultures within a system that strongly advocates British values, resulting in a positive inclusive atmosphere where effective education takes place.

The Academy is part of the Co-op Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust with academies in Leeds, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent.

What we offer:

  • A supportive governing body.
  • Friendly and enthusiastic pupils and staff.
  • High quality, personalised professional development.
  • Creative and innovative teaching and learning.
  • As one of a number of Primary Academies within the Co-op Academies Trust we can offer a valuable support system from a strong and growing network of partner schools.
  • The opportunity to work under the ethics and values of our sponsor, the Co-operative Group.
  • Co-op Academies Trust benefits package including discount gym memberships & leisure offers, childcare vouchers, cycle to work, Co-op Credit Union, season ticket & rental deposit loans, cash-back healthcare scheme and co-operative discount offers.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all children and expects our staff, volunteers and parents to share this commitment.
